Bentes Christmas tree decorations for week 3.

Hi, I am back this Sunday to share some decorations I made for my tree using the beautiful free download papers and a few of my favourite dies.

De dies I used were the scalloped circle , the oval and  and the snowflake from the Winter borders & rosette set.

I added pop dots between the layers to add some more interest to my ornaments.

I hope you like my ornaments and will try making them. It's a nice thing to do in family with in the kids as they are pretty straight forward to make and the design can be varied to make different styles.

The supplies I used were:
Free downloadable papers
657900 Sizzix Big Shot Machine Only (Powder Blue & Teal)
Sizzix Framelits Die Set 7PK - Circles, Scallop
Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Winter Borders & Rosette
Sizzix Framelits Die Set 7PK - Ovals

Christmas Gingerbread Man

I have fond memories of my childhood Christmas's making these felt gingerbread men with my mum. We used to literally have dozens of them and pull them out every year and dot them around the house, it was always fun to spot them hiding in amongst the Christmas decor! This year however, will be a BIG difference as I now have a Big Shot machine with the Gingerbread Man die cut !!! Ahhhh! No more tediously drawing and cutting out the felt ...

1. For each gingerbread man decoration, cut 2 Gingerbread Man shapes. Using Sizzix Bigz L Die - Gingerbread Man / Item: 660176

2. The Bigz Die comes with facial features too, however I chose to embroider his eyes and mouth for a handmade feel. Sew on 3 buttons to his chest.

3. With the two shapes together, use a co-ordinating thread and blanket stitch around the edge. If you wanted to turn the gingerbread man into a tree decoration - cut a small length of ribbon, and place the two ends inside the top of the head. Continue to sew over the blanket stitch to secure.

4. Leave a gap for stuffing. Stuff arms and legs first and poke out to the edges. Stuff the main body lightly.

5. Continue blanket stitch to close the gap.

Enjoy! I hope you have fun making these as much as I did! I'll share a picture of my family of gingerbread men once I've decorated ;-)

My Merry Christmas cushion

Hi everyone! Today I want to show  a nice  cushion I did this week for my Christmas decoration at home. Usually I like to do something new every season and I was wishing to use the new Fresh Blossoms Alphabet dies by Stephanie Ackerman.

As you can imagine I ironed some fusible web on the wrong side of the felt and cut the letters I needed with  the Fresh Blossoms dies

Press on the background fabric and stitch with my machine.

Then I sew the squares blocks that previously I cut with the long die Bigz XL 25" squares 2" finished . You can do the same with this other die Bigz L die square 2" finished
I sew in a row 9 squares by 2 squares.
You will need 36 squares in total.

I wanted to add some nice ribbon. I chose East of India cotton ribbon with a red heart , perfect for my design.

I pinned  some  pom pom upside and down before sewing the back .

Here it is how I did the back . The closure is made with ribbons too from East of India, a nice strip red and cream ribbon that remember me Xmas decorations.
I put right sides together of the cushion and sew all around.

Here you can see  the stitched letters made of felt. Mine can fade so I don´t wash my cushion.

Hope you like this idea and have a creative week doing your preparation for Christmas time.
Love
Mercedes

Christmas List - conquering the cards

Hi everyone, Christmas is coming, the nights are getting cold, oh my, I need to get a wiggle on!   Anyone that knows me well, knows I am the queen of last minute!  No, really!  So Christmas is a big challenge for me, so this year, I am planning on making some cards and gifts to help alleviate some of my self imposed guilt for never getting my Christmas card list done, let alone cards sent.

I was smitten with the 'Noel' die, as soon as set eyes on it!  I saw cards straight away! But something a little different, more personal and intimate if you like.

So I gathered up my supplies,

Charm Pack (Aspen Frost by Basic Grey for Moda)
Double sided fusible
6" card blanks
Glue stick
Gold thread (optional)
Gold pen (optional)

I divided my charm pack into two piles, backgrounds and tops
If you don't have a charm pack, delve into your stash and  cut yourself some 5" squares.

I fused the pile of tops, I used Heat and Bond Feather Lite,

Layered them up in 3's fabric side down onto the die, ensuring all of the word was covered.

and hey presto, I got all my 'Noel's' cut in a jiffy

peel off the papers and fuse in place on a background square, with a hot iron following the manufacturers instructions.
(be sure to check as not all fusible's have the same heat tolerances)

I used this pretty gold variegated thread from Superior and stitched around the outside and inside edges of my Noels
I managed to get it done in one go, no stopping from start to finish, which is always a bonus!

using a glue stick, generously glue the back of the fabric, center the square onto the card and firm down

to finish off, a few little lines around the square to imitate stitch lines

and now I have a pretty little stack of handmade cards ready for posting

If only I could get my list sorted in time!
(I might sneak in a few cheeky Coasters too!)

Until next time - Have fun!

How to make:
You can do it in your own way, with the best colors and anyway you want.
Cut different parts of the St. Nick by Tim Holtz from different materials: cut out two piece of front from white felt, cut out the hat from fabric or felt, cut out face from cardstock, holly from green felt etc. Distress the edges.
Glue the edges of front above the back, leaving a gap to lightly stuff him, before finishing off.
Embellish and insert some twine to create a loop for hanging.
Voilá! You’re done!

You’ve created a Christmas ornament that will be a treasured keepsake for many years to come. Keep for yourself, give as gifts, or use to decorate presents and packages.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Buon venerdì a tutti,

Materiali:
Sizzix Big Shot Machine Only (Powder Blue & Teal) (657900)
Sizzix Bigz Die - St. Nick (660051)
feltro e stoffa
cartoncini
inchiostro distress
imbottitura
spago bianco e rosso
campanellino
strass
colla a caldo

Come fare:

Scandi Star Christmas quilt

Hello there - I'm happy to share that the Christmas quilt is coming along very nicely - and here's the photo to prove it -

and here is the complete top -

As each block is 16 1/2" this quilt only needed 12 blocks! and so the quilt can be cut and pieced in a day -add another day or a couple of evenings and this quilt will be complete - there is still time before Christmas!!
I used 12 different fabrics from Scandi Christmas fabrics and needed 40cms of each, and there is some left to create a pieced binding.
Cut the following pieces from each fabric using
 1 x 8" square die, http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/657265/sizzix-bigz-pro-die-square-8-finished-8-1-2-unfinished , and the Big Shot Pro http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/656250/sizzix-big-shot-pro-machine-only-periwinkle-w-standard-accessories ,

With the Big Shot and die 657520 - 8 x half square triangles - http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/657520/sizzix-bigz-l-die-half-square-triangles-5-finished-square ,

 4 quarter square triangles http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/657639/sizzix-bigz-xl-die-triangles-4-5-8-h-x-8-1-2-w-unfinished ,

and 4 squares - http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/659838/sizzix-bigz-die-square-4-finished-4-1-2-unfinished .

Mix and match the fabrics - I used dark reds with light greys, light reds with dark greys - so that each square is different.
The piecing instructions are on my blog for 13th November.
When the 12 blocks are completed, and pressed, lay them out in 4 rows of 3 blocks each.
Join the blocks together to complete the 4 rows and then join the rows together.
I will probably machine quilt for speed and then make a pieced binding to complete - I hope to have it ready to show you completed next week - and maybe some little girls snuggled up under it.
Well that will be another first for me - a Christmas quilt - hope you like it.

Christmas tree decorations with Karine

Hello,

This week the whole Sizzix team will propose nice ideas to decorate your Christmas Tree! This year, I chose pastel feminine shades for a merry colourful tree!

Supply List:

Very Merry Kit: entreartistes.fr
Cardstock: American Crafts
Badges: Freckled Fawn
Gold twine
Gold cloth
Golden label: Ephéméria

Dies:

658300 : Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit
659978 : Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 9PK-Winter Borders & Rosette
659994 : Sizzix Bigz Die Snowflakes #3

Have fun cutting loads of rosettes to create your own Christmas decorations! I cut my first shape out of white cardstock; it is glued with double-sided tape. At the back, a little gold thread is glued so that it could be hung to the Christmas tree. The embellishments have to be minimalist and light so as to hang properly.

Instead of using a star at the top of the tree, I cut a large snowflake out of gold cloth. Its center is decorated with a Freckled Fawn badge.

Little golden bows and pink snowflakes will come as a completion.

We only have a week left to wait before decorating the Christmas Tree! I’ll be cutting out die cuts while waiting for this moment :-)

Have a lovely day,

Karine

Bonjour,

Very Merry Kit :entreartistes.fr
Cardstock : American Crafts
Badges : Freckled Fawn
Ficelle dorée
Tissu or
Etiquette dorée : Ephéméria

Dies utilisés :

658300 : Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit
659978 : Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 9PK-Winter Borders & Rosette
659994 : Sizzix Bigz Die Snowflakes #3

Karine
